Man’s Search for Meaning
At the heart of our practice is the belief that healing from trauma requires addressing our deepest emotions and sense of self. This is why we chose "Cuore" – the Italian word for "heart" – as the cornerstone of our therapy approach. Cuore Therapy was born from the profound experiences of its founder, Veronica Corona Barker, during her volunteer work with 9/11 survivors in NYC. In the aftermath of the tragic events of September 11 2001, Corona Barker dedicated herself to supporting those directly affected. Through her interactions, she observed that the traumatic events people endure have lasting impacts on their lives. She realized that the stories and experiences individuals carry before such incidents significantly influence their reactions and coping mechanisms. Over the years, Corona Barker's work extended to understanding the unique challenges faced by immigrants, recognizing that many carry trauma stories marked by grief and loss. This insight became the cornerstone of Cuore Therapy, which focuses on addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, particularly within the immigrant community.

Veronica Corona Barker is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Therapist based in Dallas. She began her career as a psychotherapist in Mexico City over twenty years ago. She holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Master’s in Counseling. She attended Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City where she obtained her BA in Psychology.
Since relocating from Mexico over nine years ago, she has been dedicated to working with teenagers, immigrants, and trauma survivors. Veronica has also worked as a Clinical Trainer and public speaker teaching other mental health professionals how to work with diverse populations.
Veronica’s expertise covers a wide range of areas, including sexual abuse, trauma and PTSD, racial identity, addiction, anxiety, depression, immigration trauma, and relationship issues. With over twenty years of experience in the field, Corona Barker focuses on helping individuals understand themselves deeply and become the best versions of themselves. Her approach is culturally sensitive and incorporates various therapeutic methods, including attachment-based, emotionally focused, psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. She provides therapy in English and Spanish.
